MARKETING/RECRUITING LONG-TERM AND SHORT-TERM STUDENTS AND HOST FAMILIES

We recommend marketing and recruiting in the Spring – April/May so the student has time to take courses over the summer. This usually helps the student to take summer courses and enables them to graduate. You may, however, also interview in the Fall. Your timeline to complete everything will be shorter, but it is doable.

What Rotary Youth Exchange is NOT

  • We are not a “find yourself” program
  • Be sure it is the STUDENT that wants to go and is not being SENT by the parents
  • There is no Entitlement on the Exchange
  • The exchange is not to “fix them”
  • Not about travel
  • Three-year commitment

Qualities of an Ambassador – what you should look for in your students

HOST FAMILY – FINDING, VETTING, TRAINING & MANAGING

YEAH – Youth Exchange Administrative Hub

YEAH is a central database used by our District and many throughout the world. It is where we maintain all student, volunteer, host families, and district information. It is critical to our program that the information in YEAH be kept current and up to date. When we are audited every 2 years by the Department of State, this is the information they pull from to ensure our compliance.

For Clubs – it is IMPERATIVE you enter your Inbound Student’s MONTHLY REPORT – BEFORE the 25th of each month into YEAH either through the HUB (YEO’s only) or the YEAH PORTAL (available for your phone)
